About the role
Applied Materials is seeking a front‑line manager to lead a team of technical contributors in its Electron Microscopy and materials characterization lab. You will supervise daily operations, keep the lab on schedule, and help develop both the team and analytical capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision to professional technical staff, set priorities and remove roadblocks.
- Act as a technical and operational advisor, stepping in hands‑on to keep schedules on track.
- Track and analyze performance of staff and lab equipment, using data to drive improvements.
- Sustain and improve lab workflows, recommending changes to processes, protocols, and policies.
- Recruit, interview, and hire new talent while administering company policies fairly.
- Build strong relationships with direct reports, peers, and management.
- Present technical information on projects, schedules, and results to stakeholders.
Required profile
- 5+ years of relevant technical experience, with at least 1–2 years of leadership or mentoring.
- Strong technical background in Electron Microscopy (SEM/TEM) or broad metrology and failure‑analysis knowledge.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills with sound judgment.
- Ability to analyze data and recommend actions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
