Manager, Laboratory, Radiation, and Process Safety

About the role

The Texas A&M University System Offices is seeking a Manager to lead laboratory, radiation, and process safety across its member institutions. Reporting to senior leadership, you will develop, implement, and maintain safety programs that protect personnel, property, and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and standardize laboratory, radiation, and process safety programs, guidance, templates, and best practices.
• Assist member campuses in creating and improving safety programs and obtaining necessary licenses and registrations for radioactive materials, radiation‑producing devices, and lasers.
• Review building and renovation projects to ensure compliance with laboratory safety requirements.
• Conduct compliance reviews, follow‑up activities, and provide technical consultation on safety matters.
• Monitor applicable laws, regulations, and emerging safety issues; support design reviews and promote consistent safety practices across the system.
• Design and deliver training on laboratory, radiation, chemical, biological, process, and engineering safety topics.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing laboratory, radiation, and process safety programs in a complex organization.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and licensing requirements.
• Ability to develop policies, conduct compliance audits, and provide technical guidance to diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills for training delivery and inter‑institutional collaboration.
