Manager IV – Field Service Engineer (M4)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Manager IV – Field Service Engineer (M4) to lead service operations for semiconductor equipment in Austin. The role combines technical service management, financial forecasting, and team leadership to ensure customer satisfaction and system uptime.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast financial, manpower and operational requirements for start‑up, warranty and service agreement businesses.
• Manage start‑up projects, controlling time and cost, and oversee local inventory and RMA procedures.
• Maintain days‑sales‑outstanding (DSO) targets and manage system start‑up and warranty costs.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through service performance, escalation handling and guaranteed uptime.
• Interview, hire and train customer engineers, set goals, and develop career plans.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Full‑time employee with ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Experience managing homogeneous teams and adapting plans to service challenges.
• Strong problem‑solving skills to resolve technical, operational and organizational issues.
