Manager II, Accounting/Financial Services

About the role

The State Accounting Office (SAO) of Georgia seeks a Manager II to lead accounting and financial operations for a unit, department, or agency. This position is responsible for implementing accounting policies, overseeing financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with government regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze financial statistics and accounting data to support departmental mission.
• Coordinate auditing activities with accounting, budgeting, and administrative functions.
• Develop and direct a comprehensive accounting program that integrates GAAP, Governmental Accounting Standards, GAGAS, statutory requirements, and internal policies.
• Direct operational analyses of accounting systems, subsystems, and procedures.
• Supervise subordinate supervisors and staff, providing guidance and performance management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• Four years of professional accounting experience, including at least two years in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Alternatively, one year of experience at the lower‑level Manager, Accounting (FIM010) or an equivalent position.
• Successful completion of background checks and legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Familiarity with Generally Accepted Governmental Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
