Manager, Events & Membership

About the role

The Manager, Events & Membership will plan and execute GACC Midwest's events and membership initiatives, supporting the organization’s mission to promote German‑American trade in the Midwest.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute conferences, networking receptions and signature events, handling logistics, venue management, catering, A/V setup and on‑site support.
• Develop event strategies, identify transatlantic business trends, drive attendance, conduct outreach and secure sponsorships.
• Manage budgets, review contracts, handle invoicing and payments in coordination with accounting.
• Collaborate with Membership, Marketing & Communications teams to promote events and membership programs.
• Gather and analyze feedback to continuously improve events and membership initiatives.
• Maintain CRM records, prepare reports on membership activities and event performance.
• Guide and mentor interns, delegating tasks and reviewing their work.
• Represent GACC Midwest at chamber and partner events, building stakeholder connections.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Event Management, Communications or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3‑5 years of experience in event planning, project management, membership relations or business development.
• Detail‑oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal English; German language skills preferred.
• Customer‑service mindset with strong relationship‑building abilities.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and travel for events and member meetings.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with CRM systems and accurate record‑keeping.
• Website content management experience.
