Management and Budget Analyst

About the role

The City’s Office of Management and Budget is seeking a skilled Management and Budget Analyst to support the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of the municipal operating and capital budgets. Reporting to the OMB Director, you will provide critical financial insight to senior city leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director in preparing the proposed and adopted city budgets.
• Analyze departmental budget requests and advise the City Manager on approvals.
• Prepare quarterly revenue and expenditure projections.
• Review City Commission agenda items for funding approvals and bid awards.
• Validate purchase orders and direct payment documents for proper coding and fund availability.
• Maintain budgets and position‑control data in the city’s financial and payroll systems.
• Research and compile cost information for departmental and labor‑relation requests.
• Conduct ongoing research projects on budget and management issues.
• Support senior managers with complex financial analyses, including capital improvement plans.
• Perform special projects and ensure regular attendance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in budget preparation, management systems analysis, or performance‑improvement reviews; experience may substitute for education on a year‑for‑year basis.
• Ability to communicate effectively and use standard office equipment.
• Physical capability to perform typical office tasks and maintain regular attendance.
