About the role

The Georgia Department of Banking and Finance is seeking a MALPB Examination Specialist 2 to lead the supervision of Merchant Acquirer Limited Purpose Banks (MALPBs) chartered in the state. This senior‑level position provides managerial oversight and ensures compliance with banking and payment‑network regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Direct supervision of one or more MALPB entities chartered by the Department.
• Act as lead examiner for chartering initiatives and regulatory/compliance obligations related to merchant acquiring and card‑network transactions.
• Assess and mitigate risks associated with merchant acquiring activities.
• Provide guidance on operational best practices and risk‑management frameworks.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to state and federal regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum five years of experience in payments‑industry audit, regulatory oversight, or a closely related role.
• Background in merchant acquiring and card‑network relationships.
• Strong understanding of risk‑management frameworks and compliance requirements (preferred).
