Maintenance Technician I

About the role

The Maintenance Technician I provides general upkeep for rental housing, ensuring units are ready for new occupants and that all building systems operate smoothly. You will join a dedicated maintenance team, working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of environments.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to service requests for furnaces, HVAC, appliances, water heaters, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and other maintenance items.
• Perform skilled work in trades such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, including troubleshooting and repairs.
• Document all work according to company policy and maintain tools and equipment in ready condition.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules, replace filters, and ensure proper use of PPE and chemicals.
• Assist with make‑ready tasks for vacated units, including painting, flooring, drywall, fixture repair, and exterior work.
• Handle emergency situations like sewage backups, water line breaks, fire damage, and weather‑related repairs.
• Drive a company or personal vehicle as needed to perform duties.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED with training or experience in building maintenance trades.
• 1‑3 years of experience in building maintenance.
• General knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift 50 lb regularly (occasionally more).
