Maintenance Repairer 2 – HVAC Journeyman

About the role

The Maintenance Repairer 2 is a Journeyman‑level position within the HVAC department, responsible for keeping heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning systems running efficiently through preventive maintenance, inspections and minor repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive tasks such as replacing air filters, inspecting and replacing belts, lubricating fan and motor bearings, cleaning evaporator and condenser coils, and clearing condensate drain lines.
• Assist senior technicians with HVAC repairs, ensuring safety and compliance with university standards.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify worn parts, leaks, or abnormal operation.
• Maintain accurate service records and complete any additional duties assigned, including emergency work.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience or training in building construction trades, building maintenance, mechanical equipment repair, or a related field.
• Or completion of a two‑year vocational technical program in general building construction.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility for motor vehicle record check.
• Ability to pass required drug screens and meet safety‑sensitive position criteria.
• Physical capability to perform the duties outlined.

Required skills

• HVAC system preventive maintenance (filter replacement, belt inspection/replacement, bearing lubrication).
• Coil cleaning and condensate drain line clearing.
• Basic HVAC repair techniques under supervision.
• Routine system inspections and fault identification.
• Proficiency with hand tools and maintenance equipment.
