Maintenance Mechanic – Production Equipment

About the role

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production equipment on the shop floor. This role involves performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment improvements to support high‑output manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Execute projects, repairs, mold changes, and preventive maintenance on production lines.
• Maintain safe operational conditions for all equipment and improve reliability and efficiency.
• Plan, repair, modify, and fabricate components as needed to resolve equipment issues.
• Keep equipment and work areas clean after maintenance activities.
• Assist in updating and improving the preventive‑maintenance program.
• Communicate equipment condition to supervisors and train production staff on machine conversions and PM tasks.
• Support other maintenance staff with installations, commissioning, and testing.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory, ensure tools are organized and in good condition, and maintain a clean toolbox.
• Perform daily system‑room checks, shop housekeeping, and specific equipment PMs (e.g., Pressco, Video Jet).

Required profile

• Ability to organize work efficiently and meet schedules.
• Provincial/Industrial mechanic certification.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems; basic electrical and control knowledge.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Physical stamina to stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods.
• Willingness to work overtime, cover vacations, and follow safety procedures.
