Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant supports the Physical Plant at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, ensuring that campus buildings and grounds remain safe, functional and welcoming for students, staff and visitors. Working under the Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Director, the role involves hands‑on tasks across multiple trades and general upkeep activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine building and grounds maintenance to keep facilities in good condition.
• Carry out general cleaning, landscaping and event‑support duties as needed.
• Assist with minor repairs in various trades (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry) under supervision.
• Follow state and federal regulations and institutional policies governing campus maintenance.
• Report safety hazards and contribute to a caring campus environment.

Required profile

• Ability to work under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Director.
• Physical capability to perform manual labor and operate basic maintenance tools.
• Commitment to adhere to safety standards and institutional policies.
