Machinist II

About the role

Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is seeking a Machinist II to join the 1st shift team in Torrance, CA. You will work on large CNC saws that produce critical flight‑control hardware for advanced military aircraft.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate two or more types of large CNC saws to produce quality hardware.
• Perform all standard machinist functions, including set‑ups, inspections, and in‑process monitoring.
• Read and interpret blueprints and operation sheets, detecting errors or defective materials.
• Use shop measuring instruments for setup, verification, and quality checks.
• Meet production time standards and apply practical shop mathematics.
• Conduct block checks on NC/CNC machines and correct tape errors to prevent scrap.
• Assist and train less‑skilled employees as needed.
• Support the logistics team with receiving, stock pulling, cycle counting, packing, and shipping.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal, written, and computer instructions in English.
• 3+ years of machining experience.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading.
• Basic computer skills and ability to perform simple arithmetic.
