Machinist I – CNC Lathe – 2nd Shift

About the role

Moog is seeking a Machinist I for its Buffalo, NY facility. The role is on the 2nd shift and focuses on producing high‑precision aerospace and defense components using CNC equipment. You will work in a performance‑driven environment where quality and reliability are critical to mission success.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and monitor CNC lathes with milling capabilities to produce parts to tight tolerances and fine surface finishes.
• Inspect finished components, adjust gauging equipment, and identify any deviations from specifications.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T annotations, sketches and operation sheets.
• Maintain accurate production records and follow escalation procedures for machining issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience as a general machinist; CNC lathe experience preferred.
• Completion of a formal manufacturing, machining or CNC certification program is acceptable in lieu of experience.
• Demonstrated ability to follow documented escalation paths and work safely.

Required skills

• CNC lathe operation with milling capability
• Use of precision measuring tools such as micrometers and dial bore gauges
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions
