Machinist I – CNC Lathe (2nd Shift)

About the role

Moog is seeking a Machinist I for its Buffalo, NY facility on the 2nd shift. The role involves producing high‑precision aerospace and defense components using CNC lathe‑mill machines, ensuring each part meets strict tolerance and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and monitor CNC lathe‑mill equipment to manufacture complex geometries.
• Inspect finished parts, adjust gauging tools, and identify any deviations from specifications.
• Interpret and follow detailed engineering drawings, GD&T blueprints and work instructions.
• Maintain accurate production records and report any equipment issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience as a general machinist; CNC lathe experience preferred.
• Completed a formal manufacturing, machining or CNC certification program (acceptable in lieu of experience).
• Ability to follow escalation procedures and work safely in a high‑precision environment.

Required skills

• CNC lathe operation with milling capability.
• Use of measuring equipment such as micrometers and dial bore gauges.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T specifications and work orders.
