Machine Shop Value Stream Manager

About the role

Moog is seeking a Machine Shop Value Stream Manager to lead a critical manufacturing operation supporting the Space and Defense Group. Based in Blacksburg, VA, you will drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and safe, cost-effective production of high-quality machined components.

Key responsibilities

• Lead safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance of the machine shop value stream.
• Develop and execute strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and overall operational performance.
• Champion Lean principles, waste elimination, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Coach, develop and support leaders and employees to build a high-performing team.
• Manage resources, budgets, staffing plans, and capital investments for the shop.
• Oversee capacity planning and workflow to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality and Advanced Manufacturing to improve processes and capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align operational priorities with business objectives.
• Support modernization and long-term growth through process and technology advancements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering, manufacturing or business discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, operations or a technical environment.
• At least 7 years of direct supervision/leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of machine shop operations, machining processes and manufacturing best practices.
• Proven ability to lead teams, drive change and achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with capacity planning, resource management, budgeting and capital investment planning.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and project-management capabilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and other functions.
