Machine Operator – Graphite Materials Preparation

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a Machine Operator to safely run shop tools and produce graphite components for prototype and production parts. The role supports internal customers such as manufacturing and engineering while maintaining a clean, efficient work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate major shop equipment including forklifts, cranes, surface grinders, drill presses, band saws, routers and other power tools.
• Interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches and verbal instructions to set up and run machining processes.
• Plan and execute moderately to complex machine set‑ups, applying trigonometry to calculate angles and minimize set‑ups.
• Nest parts to maximize material efficiency and reduce waste.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensure proper handling of tools, equipment and stock.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• 4–7 years of experience operating machine‑shop equipment and heavy machinery.
• Physically demanding work requiring standing, walking, bending, lifting and ability to work in noisy environments.
• Basic understanding of how the team integrates with other business functions.
