M&A Finance Analyst

About the role

As an M&A Finance Analyst at 3M, you will support both sell‑side and buy‑side transactions by delivering high‑quality financial analyses and due‑diligence reports. You will work closely with corporate development, integration teams and business finance leaders across the globe.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial deliverables for divestitures and acquisitions, including quality of earnings, carve‑out statements, net working capital, debt schedules and cost analyses.
• Coordinate with third‑party diligence advisors to ensure accurate and scoped financial due‑diligence reports.
• Present and communicate diligence findings to Business Groups, Finance, Supply Chain and Corporate Finance leadership.
• Collaborate with Corporate Development, Integration & Transition Management, and Business Strategy to assess strategic impact of transactions.
• Estimate stranded costs and evaluate effects on earnings per share.
• Partner with Controllers to transition post‑close accounting and purchase‑price schedules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (completed prior to start).
• At least three years of combined experience in accounting or finance within private, public, government or military environments.
• Experience in finance business counsel, financial due diligence, or investment banking is a plus.
• Project management or leadership experience in M&A integrations is desirable.
• CPA and/or CMA certification, or an MBA in Finance, Accounting or Economics, are advantageous.
