About the role

The Louisiana Light Source (LLS) at Louisiana State University is one of only six synchrotrons in the United States, supporting interdisciplinary research in catalysis, materials science, biotechnology and more. LSU seeks an innovative, collaborative leader to serve as Director, defining the future vision, mission and operations of the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the administrative infrastructure, technical and scientific staff, and research facilities, including budgeting, resource allocation and strategic planning in coordination with the Office of Research & Economic Development.
• Act as the primary advocate and ambassador for LLS, promoting its scientific vision within the university, nationally and internationally, and maintaining relationships with faculty, industry, federal agencies and other partners.
• Lead collaborations with federal and state agencies, industry partners and international academic institutions, and represent LLS on review panels and advisory boards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in synchrotron science and related fields such as X‑ray science or accelerator physics.
• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership for a large research facility.
• Strong record of building interdisciplinary collaborations and securing external partnerships.
