Loss Control Specialist

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Loss Control Specialist to lead agencies in adopting best practices for risk management and safety. This role supports the development and oversight of comprehensive loss control programs that protect employees, property, and public finances.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze high‑risk areas and trends to quantify exposure to loss.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate safety and loss‑control programs, including accident prevention, safety training, and emergency preparedness.
• Review, interpret, and revise safety policies, procedures, and standards for state entities.
• Provide expert consultation to agencies on risk exposure reduction.
• Collaborate with the risk‑management leadership team to ensure consistent program delivery.
• Occasionally travel to client sites and conduct on‑site assessments.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience combinations.
• Strong oral, written, and presentation communication abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and people‑management skills.
• Strategic thinking and sound decision‑making capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of industry best practices, trends, and legislative issues related to risk management.
• Experience developing safety training and emergency preparedness programs.
• Proficiency in analyzing data to identify loss‑prevention opportunities.
