Long-term Ethics & Compliance Internship

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is offering a long‑term, multi‑semester internship within its Ethics & Compliance department in Herndon, VA. Reporting to the E&C Manager, the intern will support a small team on projects that help maintain and improve Airbus’ compliance program across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Assist legal and compliance professionals in identifying, preventing and remediating risk across North American operations.
• Analyze risk and monitor compliance aspects such as third‑party engagements, gift and sponsorship requests, and potential conflicts of interest.
• Learn and operate Airbus electronic tools and process‑flow management systems, providing basic end‑user guidance.
• Track approval status, identify bottlenecks, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Generate qualitative and quantitative status reports on ethics and compliance matters.
• Support due‑diligence activities on third‑party customers and suppliers.
• Prepare draft process documentation and engagement proposals.
• Contribute ideas for improving compliance processes and departmental planning.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a degree program at a US‑accredited university.
• Located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for onsite work.
• Strong interest in ethics, compliance, or export control within a corporate environment.
• High ethical standards, professional integrity and attention to detail.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to meet deadlines and handle sensitive information discreetly.
