Logistics Planner – Atlanta, GA

About the role

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Logistics Planner to coordinate inbound and outbound freight movements for its Atlanta facilities. The role focuses on delivering creative solutions, ensuring timely shipments, and supporting both internal and external customers.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily inbound and outbound shipments for selected facilities and suppliers.
• Achieve fiscal year financial and performance goals.
• Manage transportation events to maintain manufacturing, supplier, and customer satisfaction.
• Conduct weekly service metric reviews, covering cost, on‑time performance, route guide compliance, carrier capacity, and spot shipment performance.
• Ensure carrier receipt and response to daily load tenders.
• Perform outbound and inbound load tendering processes.
• Track loads and hold carriers accountable for on‑time pick‑up and delivery.
• Communicate regularly with internal/external customers and carriers.
• Identify and execute continuous‑improvement opportunities.
• Manage carrier trailer pools at selected facilities and suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.
• Minimum of 2 years of supply‑chain related experience.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
• High accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
• Understanding of transportation modes and solutions.
• Familiarity with routing and scheduling software.
• Experience with a Transportation Management System, preferably Oracle Transportation Management.
