Logistics Engineer – Transportation Optimization

About the role

The Logistics Engineer will design, optimize and improve logistics and distribution systems for McLane Global’s fulfillment network. The primary focus is transportation network design, carrier and route optimization, and cost reduction while maintaining service levels. This position is based on‑site at the Houston headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain supply chain network models to determine optimal warehouse locations, transportation routes and distribution strategies.
• Analyze transportation modes, routing and carrier performance to identify cost‑saving and service‑enhancing opportunities.
• Collect, clean and analyze large logistics datasets to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Support continuous improvement projects using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Design and evaluate strategies for last‑mile delivery, cross‑docking and intermodal optimization.
• Support layout design, slotting analysis and labor modeling for existing and new distribution centers.
• Partner with operations, IT, procurement and finance to translate modeling insights into actionable business plans.
• Assist technology implementations such as TMS, WMS and optimization tools through data preparation and system testing.

Required profile

• Proven experience in transportation network design and carrier performance analysis.
• Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma continuous‑improvement methodologies.
• Ability to develop, maintain and interpret supply chain network models.
• Strong analytical skills with experience handling large logistics datasets.
