Locksmith & Safe Repairer

About the role

The University seeks a skilled Locksmith and Safe Repairer to provide comprehensive lock services across its campuses. This full‑time position supports a safe, secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Install, replace, and repair door locks and related hardware.
• Cut, rekey, and pick locks as required.
• Perform journey‑level maintenance and repairs following industry standards.
• Respond to service requests, preventive maintenance inspections, and special projects.
• Utilize standard locksmith tools, equipment, and supplies while adhering to safety protocols.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of experience in locksmithing or a closely related trade.
• High school diploma or GED; completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent training.
• Bondable and basic understanding of locksmith terminology and safe work practices.
• Ability to read blueprints, plans, and hardware schedules.
• Familiarity with ADA, NFPA, and ANSI/BHMA codes and standards.

Required skills

• Locksmithing (pinning locks, changing cores, safe lock repair).
• Key cutting and rekeying.
• Use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work orders.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation.
• Preventive maintenance of door hardware.
• Knowledge of ADA, NFPA, and ANSI/BHMA standards.
