Litigation Counsel

About the role

Clipboard is seeking a Litigation Counsel to join its fast‑growing legal team. This is not a traditional in‑house counsel role; you will tackle novel legal challenges across multiple practice areas and help shape internal processes for a mission‑driven marketplace.

Key responsibilities

• Lead litigation workstreams related to independent‑contractor classification, including unemployment insurance claims and disputes.
• Manage additional litigation matters such as professional negligence and data‑privacy claims.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external counsel to draft pleadings, briefs, and settlement documents.
• Develop and implement internal legal processes and systems to improve efficiency.
• Conduct fact‑finding investigations, analyze complex data sets, and identify emerging legal risks.

Required profile

• Strong instincts of a high‑stakes litigator with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on concise, detail‑oriented documentation.
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to take initiative in a fast‑moving environment.
• Curiosity and analytical ability to uncover subtle legal issues from large data sets.

Required skills

• Litigation experience, preferably in employment, professional negligence, or data‑privacy matters.
• Proficiency in legal research and drafting of pleadings and motions.
• Ability to navigate internal databases and manage complex case information.
