Litigation Counsel – Corporate Litigation

About the role
Uber’s Litigation Team is seeking a business‑oriented attorney to manage a broad portfolio of U.S. corporate litigation across all delivery lines, including UberEats. The role reports to a Legal Director and can be based in several major U.S. cities.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead strategy for diverse corporate litigation matters at all procedural stages, from pre‑litigation threats to class certification, trial, arbitration, and appeals.
- Conduct fact investigations, draft and revise legal briefs, respond to discovery requests, prepare witnesses, and negotiate settlements.
- Supervise outside counsel relationships, including staffing, strategy, budgets, invoices, and compliance with internal guidelines.
- Provide concise, practical legal advice to support business goals, covering contracts, advertising, trade‑secret protection, and product development.
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate litigation risks across the organization.
Required profile
- Minimum of five (5+) years of broad litigation experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department.
- J.D. and a license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
- Team‑player mentality with a good sense of humor and willingness to pitch in on any project.
- High ethical, moral, and personal values.
- Practical experience with court hearings, depositions, mediations, or trials is a plus.
Required skills
- Strong litigation management, including pleadings, motion practice, complex e‑discovery, dispute resolution, and trial preparation.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy abilities.
- Ability to evaluate cases and oversee a large portfolio of matters.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with business leaders.
- Familiarity with e‑discovery processes, document retention policies, and document collection, review, and production.
