Litigation Attorney

About the role

Travelers, a leading property‑casualty insurer, is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join its national legal organization. You will act as a trusted advisor, handling insurance defense cases from inception through trial, appeal, and settlement, primarily for low to moderate complexity matters.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply litigation strategies to try cases to verdict or negotiate settlements.
• Conduct legal research and produce persuasive written arguments.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other court documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and client meetings independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Advise and train claim partners on litigation processes.
• Utilize case management systems and automation tools effectively.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in insurance defense litigation.
• Proven ability to manage cases from inception through trial, hearing, and appeal.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex legal matters to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated collaboration and relationship‑building capabilities.
