Linux Systems Administrator

About the role

Marathon TS is looking for an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to support the Mission Performance & Security Systems Division. You will manage both air‑gapped and cloud‑connected environments, ensuring engineers and developers have reliable infrastructure for designing, integrating, and testing complex mission systems.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support standalone (air‑gapped) and cloud‑connected systems across multiple classification levels.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain servers, workstations, storage solutions, and networking hardware.
• Assist with integration of embedded hardware, simulation tools, and test platforms.
• Maintain system baselines, configurations, and documentation in line with security policies.
• Enforce cybersecurity controls per DoD directives (STIGs, RMF, CMMC).
• Manage accreditation artifacts and support the Authority to Operate (ATO) process.
• Provide hands‑on support for builds, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting in lab and test environments.
• Collaborate with engineers, developers, and program teams to align infrastructure with project goals.
• Monitor performance, availability, and security posture, taking proactive corrective actions.
• Oversee inventory, lifecycle planning, incident response, audit readiness, and compliance inspections.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Information Systems (preferred).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• 5–8 years of professional experience in IT or cybersecurity, including system design, security analysis, and user support.
• Hands‑on experience in both Microsoft and Linux environments.
