Light Equipment Operator – Campus Facilities

About the role

The Light Equipment Operator supports campus facilities by safely operating a variety of light automotive and landscaping equipment. This full‑time, probationary position works under general supervision and may include after‑hours or weekend assignments.

Key responsibilities

• Operate ride‑on mowers, tractors, turf sweepers, dump trucks, trenchers, aerators, rototillers and related attachments.
• Perform manual labor such as moving heavy objects, raking, debris removal, and pick‑and‑shovel work.
• Conduct daily cleaning and routine maintenance of all equipment operated.
• Respond to emergencies, report unsafe conditions, and follow safety protocols.
• Work unsupervised on tasks ranging from simple to complex.

Required profile

• Knowledge of safe driving rules and operation of light equipment.
• Basic understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, PTOs, gasoline and diesel engines, and air‑cooled/water‑cooled engines.
• Awareness of surface and underground hazards, including utilities.
• Ability to work independently and recognize emergency situations.

• Full‑time position (40 hours/week) with a salary range of $3,596‑$5,035 per month.
