Lieutenant – Patrol Division & Executive Protection

About the role

The Missouri Capitol Police is seeking a dedicated law‑enforcement professional to serve as Lieutenant, commanding the Patrol Division and the Executive Protection Detail at the Governor’s Mansion. This senior leadership position reports directly to the Capitol Police Captain and is responsible for safeguarding state employees, elected officials, and the public within the Capitol Complex.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Patrol Division and Executive Protection Detail, overseeing daily operations and personnel.
• Direct law‑enforcement activities to protect the public, state employees, elected officials, the Governor, and the Governor’s family.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance oversight for department officers.
• Plan and coordinate responses to major incidents, emergencies, special events, and dignitary protection missions.
• Conduct or supervise criminal and administrative investigations, collaborating with partner agencies.
• Monitor supervisor performance, ensure policy compliance, and recommend hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions.

Required profile

• Current Missouri Class A or B Peace Officer license.
• Active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
• At least five years of supervisory experience in law enforcement.
• Valid Missouri driver’s license.
