Licensing Assistant

About the role

The Licensing Assistant supports the Texas A&M University System’s technology transfer office by researching and analysing information that underpins the evaluation of technology disclosures. The role helps protect intellectual property and facilitates the commercialisation of university research through licensing agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patent and prior‑art searches using the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office database and other electronic resources.
• Research scientific literature, websites and other publications to identify relevant prior art.
• Perform secondary market research and analyse findings to assess commercial potential.
• Review business and technical literature and prepare concise briefings on emerging developments.
• Compile industry information, identify target companies and contacts related to disclosed technologies.
• Prepare focused market and business reports on innovations and technology fields.
• Participate in internal and external forums, committees and meetings with licensing personnel.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the licensing team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences, engineering, life sciences, agriculture, computer science or a comparable combination of education and experience.
