Licensed Vocational Nurse (Continuous Recruitment)

About the role

The Santa Ana Unified School District is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join its health team on a continuous recruitment basis. Working under the supervision of the credentialed school nurse, you will provide essential health services to students in both regular and special education programs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily and specialized medical procedures, including toileting assistance, catheterization, gavage feeding, ostomy care, suctioning, and medication administration.
• Provide emergency medical care for serious illness or accidents.
• Conduct health screenings, disseminate health information, and maintain accurate student health records.
• Coordinate health conferences with parents, staff, and community resources, and collaborate with external medical providers.
• Prepare required reports for district, county, and state agencies.
• Order and manage supplies for the health office and ensure a clean, organized environment.
• Support school staff by delivering health instruction and acting as a resource for health‑related concerns.
• Administer medications, including insulin, according to physician orders.
• Participate in IEP, 504, and Student Success Team planning to meet individual student health needs.

Required profile

• Knowledge of correct medical procedures and emergency treatment protocols.
• Understanding of health needs for general and special‑education students, including medically fragile populations.
• Familiarity with confidentiality laws, electronic health record systems, and relevant health‑care regulations.
• Ability to maintain professional competence through continuing education.
