About the role
The FWS‑Library Assistant supports the South Georgia Technical College library staff and patrons, ensuring smooth daily operations and a welcoming environment. This position is part of the Federal Work‑Study program, allowing students to earn while they learn.
Key responsibilities
- Assist patrons in locating materials, using computers, and accessing online resources.
- Check in and check out books, periodicals, and media.
- Shelve returned items accurately and maintain an organized collection.
- Process new library materials, including labeling and covering.
- Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, and data entry.
- Keep library common areas neat and orderly.
- Support special projects and events as assigned.
- Provide basic technical support for library computers and printers.
Required profile
- Currently enrolled as a student at South Georgia Technical College and eligible for the Federal Work‑Study program.
- Strong customer service orientation with a friendly demeanor.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to lift up to 20 lb.
