Library and Learning Resources Technician

About the role

The Library and Learning Resources Technician works under the direction of the Principal to support the school library’s collection, circulation, and instructional programs. The role involves providing students with textbooks and workbooks, delivering age‑appropriate programs, and teaching students how to use library resources.

Key responsibilities

• Administer reading incentives and promote library use according to established procedures.
• Implement age‑appropriate programs and read selections aloud to students and classes.
• Communicate with students, parents, staff and external organizations to exchange information and resolve issues.
• Maintain library webpages on the school website.
• Control circulation of district‑owned textbooks and teaching materials: apply bar codes, check‑in/out, store, order additional items, and prepare reports for county audits.
• Develop and maintain a sufficient collection of library resources, create preliminary orders, obtain title approvals, and manage the extended shelf life of materials.
• Cover, repair, and discard damaged books as needed.

Required profile

• Ability to work under the direction of the Principal.
• Experience with library and learning‑resource services in a school setting.
• Capability to implement age‑appropriate programs and instruct students on resource use.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with students, staff, parents and external partners.

Required skills

• Bar‑code scanning and inventory management.
• Webpage maintenance for school library sites.
• Use of textbook ordering and tracking systems.
