Liaison and Policy Officer (Professional)

About the role

The Liaison and Policy Officer will support the Senior Migration Network Policy Officer in New York, providing policy analysis and liaison assistance for the follow‑up and review of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) and related United Nations processes.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Senior Migration Policy Officer on all liaison aspects related to the GCM follow‑up and review, including relevant General Assembly resolutions.
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of activities linked to the GCM and UN migration initiatives.
• Coordinate closely with the UN Network on Migration Secretariat in Geneva to ensure consistent policy messaging.
• Prepare analytical briefs, policy papers, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor developments in international migration policy and provide timely updates to the Network Secretariat.

Required profile

• Experience in migration policy, international relations, or United Nations processes.
• Strong analytical and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multilateral environment.
• Familiarity with the Global Compact for Migration is advantageous.
• Eligibility as a first‑tier or second‑tier candidate according to IOM recruitment rules.
