Legislative Affairs Support Officer (Active TS/SCI)

About the role

The Legislative Affairs Support Officer provides senior‑level assistance to the National Geospatial‑Intelligence Agency (NGA) in managing its interactions with the U.S. Legislative Branch. The incumbent advises senior leadership on legislative matters, develops engagement strategies, and ensures timely, accurate responses to congressional inquiries.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report on congressional hearings, legislation, and nominations relevant to NGA, producing weekly summaries of legislative activity.
• Draft, edit, and coordinate congressional communications such as notifications, directed actions, and budget justification documents.
• Conduct research on congressional members, districts, staff contacts, and recent legislative developments to support engagements.
• Prepare briefing materials, train staff for Capitol Hill visits, and manage logistical support for congressional interactions.
• Represent the Office of Congressional Coordination (OCC) in inter‑agency meetings, providing status updates on legislative processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
• Significant experience in legislative or government affairs, preferably at the senior level.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to synthesize complex policy information.
• Familiarity with congressional procedures, rules, and decorum.
