Legal Services Director

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Services Director to lead and enhance the infrastructure that supports our organization’s litigation, client representation and advocacy work. Reporting to the Legal Director, this newly created senior position will oversee legal staff support, case‑management processes and volunteer coordination across our San Francisco office and nationwide operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain organization‑wide legal service systems, ensuring data integrity, compliance and accurate reporting.
• Provide administrative and intake support to attorneys, managing pro bono and volunteer engagement.
• Coordinate case‑management tools and workflows to improve service delivery efficiency.
• Partner with the Legal Director on work planning, staffing and alignment with broader programmatic priorities.
• Lead regular check‑in meetings, staff retreats and other organizational events, and travel as needed for stakeholder engagements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in legal services administration, litigation support or nonprofit legal management.
• Detail‑oriented leader capable of balancing strategic planning with hands‑on execution.
• Strong ability to assess departmental needs and develop sustainable systems.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with legal teams and external partners.

Required skills

• Experience with case‑management systems and data compliance processes.
• Knowledge of pro bono program coordination.
