Legal Counsel – Energy Storage Projects

About the role

Flatiron Energy is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its growing legal team. You will support commercial, financing, and development initiatives across a portfolio of utility‑scale, standalone energy storage projects, working closely with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of discrete transactions and project workstreams, with guidance from Senior Counsel.
• Provide legal support for project financings and investment transactions, coordinating with lenders, investors, and outside counsel.
• Develop, structure, negotiate, and execute key project agreements, including EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and major equipment procurement agreements.
• Collaborate with development, finance, asset management, and operations teams to identify risks and devise practical solutions.
• Contribute to the management of the company’s contracted portfolio, handling negotiation, implementation, and ongoing interpretation of key documents.
• Coordinate and manage external counsel, counterparties, and advisors.

Required profile

• Highly self‑motivated and proactive with the ability to drive complex workstreams independently.
• Strong judgment and problem‑solving skills, capable of building practical solutions.
• Background in project finance/investment transactions or EPC, procurement, and operational project agreements.
• Comfortable interacting with executive leadership and taking meaningful ownership from day one.
