Legal Analyst – Defense & Policy

About the role

SAIC is seeking a Legal Analyst to join a contract team supporting the Department of War Office of the General Counsel. This full‑time, on‑site position in Arlington, VA, involves providing preliminary legal reviews and technical support for a wide range of defense‑related matters.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary reviews and draft orders for U.S. force deployments, military operations, and rules of engagement.
• Research and support defense‑related international agreements, including trade, intellectual property, and status‑of‑forces treaties.
• Review briefs for military exercises, freedom‑of‑navigation operations, and security‑assistance activities.
• Assist in evidence and witness identification requests, coordinating collection and classification of information.
• Process electronic redactions, create Vaughn indices, and draft internal/external correspondence for case attorneys.
• Draft and manage legal holds, track issuance, send reminders, and issue closure notices.
• Identify privileged information for litigation, congressional inquiries, investigations, and FOIA requests, and prepare detailed privilege logs.

Required profile

• Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance (or already hold one).
• Experience with legal research, document review, and drafting legal memoranda.
• Familiarity with defense‑related international agreements and military legal processes.
• Strong attention to detail for redaction, indexing, and privilege identification.
