Legal Advocate – Family Law & Immigration

About the role

The Legal Advocate supports attorneys at Survivor Justice Center by handling client correspondence, drafting legal documents, and providing direct assistance to survivors in family law and immigration matters. This full‑time, hourly position works within a dedicated legal team to ensure timely and accurate case support.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare client correspondence, memoranda, and legal forms under attorney supervision.
• Gather and organize client evidence for court filings and other legal submissions.
• Conduct client interviews, fact‑finding, and provide case‑related information.
• Communicate with clients, law enforcement, and government agencies such as the Department of Children and Family Services.
• Perform legal research, retrieve documents, and manage digital case files.
• Translate documents between Spanish and English.
• Maintain calendars, schedule deadlines, and handle administrative tasks like faxing, scanning, and mailing.
• Participate in team meetings, trainings, and adhere to all organizational policies.

Required profile

• Full‑time (35‑hour week) non‑exempt position with hourly compensation.
• Ability to work under attorney supervision and collaborate within a legal team.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English for document translation and client communication.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing case files and deadlines.
