Lead Teacher and Program Coordinator

About the role

The Lead Teacher and Program Coordinator will direct the Ch’anik’na child enrichment program, delivering culturally‑rich learning experiences for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. This full‑time position blends classroom leadership with program management to foster social competence, school readiness, and pride in Alaska Native heritage.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement age‑appropriate, culturally relevant activities that meet developmental goals.
• Supervise children safely throughout the day, using active observation and consistent guidance techniques.
• Apply industry‑approved strategies to support physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and language development.
• Maintain a healthy, secure learning environment by setting clear limits and modeling respectful behavior.
• Identify high‑risk situations, engage families in supportive discussions, and provide referrals when needed.
• Guide and mentor Teacher Aides to ensure adherence to quality standards and procedural deadlines.
• Participate in administrative duties, including enrollment packet preparation and parent meetings.

Required profile

• Experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool‑aged children.
• Understanding of Alaska Native culture and the ability to integrate it into daily activities.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with families and team members.
• Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
