Lead Specialist (Physician)

About the role

The University of Southern California is seeking a Lead Specialist to provide direct and indirect patient care at the Durango Clinic. This physician will deliver comprehensive medical assessments, health education, and preventive care while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform medical assessments, take patient histories, and establish appropriate levels of care.
• Maintain accurate medical records, prepare reports, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide counseling on medical, psychological, and personal health matters.
• Refer patients to specialized treatment and coordinate care with private physicians and public agencies.
• Participate in after‑hours call and “Advice Call” services for ill or injured individuals.
• Collaborate with counseling services for patients presenting mental‑health concerns.
• Review treatment plans created by physician assistants and ensure quality of care.

Required profile

• Doctorate (M.D. or D.O.) with at least 1 year of clinical experience.
• Current, valid medical license to practice in Nevada and a DEA certificate.
• Board certification in a medical specialty and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• High degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze situations, make effective decisions, and provide diagnostic treatment.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• DEA certification.
• Board of Pharmacy license (if applicable).
• Fire Life Safety Training (Los Angeles City) – to be obtained within 30 days if not already held.
