Lead Project Engineer – Spacecraft Avionics

About the role

Moog is seeking a mid‑level Lead Project Engineer to serve as the technical lead for a spacecraft avionics package. You will drive project execution from concept through integration, translating program requirements into system architectures and ensuring successful validation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical execution of assigned projects and coordinate activities across hardware, firmware/FPGA, software, test, suppliers, and manufacturing teams.
• Manage program requirements, maintain traceability matrices, and develop verification artifacts.
• Contribute to system and subsystem architecture under senior technical guidance.
• Plan and execute validation and verification activities, including environmental, functional, EMI/EMC, and integration testing.
• Troubleshoot and debug board‑level and system‑level issues during test and integration.
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet schedule and quality targets.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of engineering experience in space, avionics, or complex electronics systems.
• Hands‑on test and debug expertise at board or system level.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Requirements management and traceability.
• Circuit board design and debugging.
• Spacecraft electronics and avionics testing.
• FPGA design and toolflows.
• Complex system design.
• Familiarity with SpaceWire, Ethernet, MIL‑STD‑1553, CAN, RS‑422/TTL interfaces.
• Environmental qualification testing (vibration, thermal/vacuum, shock).
• Hardware bring‑up, lab automation, and test‑script development.
• Schematic capture and PCB layout review.
