Lead Operator – Surface Water

About the role

The City of Pearland is seeking a full‑time Lead Operator for its Surface Water Department. You will oversee daily water‑treatment operations, ensure compliance with water‑quality standards, and guide a team of operators in a fast‑paced municipal environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor water quality by performing laboratory tests for chlorine residual, pH, turbidity, hardness, alkalinity, odors, and other parameters.
• Operate and maintain mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, chemical feed pumps, air compressors, valves, and hand/power tools.
• Control and calibrate chlorination equipment, perform routine maintenance on chlorine piping systems, and replace chlorine containers as needed.
• Manage SCADA systems to oversee treatment processes and respond to alarms or operational issues.
• Train and supervise junior operators, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory procedures.

Required profile

• Valid TCEQ Water Operator license (Grade C, B, or A preferred).
• Experience in municipal water‑treatment operations or a similar utility environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a high‑pressure setting.
