Lead Nuclear Engineer

About the role

Radiant, an innovative startup developing portable nuclear microreactors, is looking for a Lead Nuclear Engineer to head its nuclear design and analysis team. You will guide the development of the Kaleidos 1‑MW microreactor from concept through testing, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an interdisciplinary team of nuclear engineers covering safety analysis, core performance, shielding, I&C, operations, and thermal‑hydraulics.
• Hire, mentor, and grow a high‑performing engineering group.
• Own nuclear engineering projects end‑to‑end: requirements capture, multi‑disciplinary design iteration, simulation pipeline development, analysis post‑processing, and preparation of regulatory deliverables.
• Collaborate with the regulatory team to meet nuclear industry standards and requirements.
• Provide actionable feedback and coaching to engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering or a related accredited field.
• 5+ years of nuclear engineering experience with hands‑on use of MCNP and/or OpenMC.
• Deep knowledge of neutron transport and Monte Carlo simulation theory.
• At least 1 year of experience managing direct reports.
