Lead Kubernetes Platform Engineer

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Lead Kubernetes Platform Engineer to shape the strategy, architecture, and evolution of its enterprise container platform. You will design, build, and operate cloud‑native capabilities across Amazon EKS and Azure AKS, enabling secure and scalable application delivery at global scale.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of a multi‑cloud Kubernetes platform on AWS and Azure.
• Define platform standards for cluster lifecycle, networking, identity, security, observability, and resiliency.
• Drive the long‑term technical vision and roadmap for the Kubernetes ecosystem.
• Own the enterprise GitOps strategy using Argo CD, ApplicationSets, and multi‑cluster fleet management.
• Develop reusable platform services, automation frameworks, and IaC solutions with CDK and Bicep.
• Improve developer experience through self‑service capabilities and standardized deployment workflows.
• Lead adoption of progressive delivery practices such as canary, blue/green, and traffic‑managed deployments.
• Provide technical leadership, conduct architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and influence cross‑team direction.
• Ensure operational excellence through automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and operating enterprise‑grade Kubernetes platforms.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of guiding technical teams and influencing architecture decisions.
• Ability to collaborate with Architecture, Security, SRE, and Product teams.
• Experience driving adoption of cloud‑native best practices in large organizations.
