Lead Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction

About the role

Our client, a leading heavy civil construction contractor, is seeking a Lead Estimator to drive the estimating process for complex infrastructure projects. The role combines technical expertise with leadership, supporting bid strategy and collaborating with project and executive teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of detailed cost estimates for large‑scale heavy civil projects.
• Analyze plans, specifications, and site conditions to define scope and pricing.
• Prepare and submit competitive bid packages on schedule.
• Participate in strategic planning sessions with senior management.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Mentor and train junior estimators.
• Attend site visits and pre‑bid meetings as required.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of heavy civil construction processes, materials and market trends.
• Proven leadership and strong analytical and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel for site visits and meetings.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with InEight estimating software.
• Cost estimating expertise for heavy civil projects.
