About the role
The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center seeks an innovative leader to serve as Director of its Law Library. The Director will guide library strategy, support instruction, scholarship, and research for faculty and students, and ensure compliance with ABA and AALS accreditation standards.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of library management and operations, including budgeting, financial oversight, purchasing, and physical plant maintenance.
- Hire, supervise, and develop a team of librarians and professional staff.
- Provide library services, research instruction, and coordinate the legal research curriculum delivered by traditional and hybrid methods.
- Lead collection development, maintenance, and ensure resources support teaching, learning, and research.
- Manage a multi‑million‑dollar renovation project and an annual budget of approximately $1.8 million.
- Teach courses in legal research and writing and, when appropriate, additional doctrinal courses.
- Champion strategic planning, accreditation compliance, and foster a collaborative environment.
Required profile
- J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school.
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA‑accredited institution.
- Strong academic credentials and a commitment to outstanding teaching.
- Demonstrated administrative, communication, and interpersonal leadership skills.
- Eligibility for tenure‑track or professional practice‑track positions; tenure‑track candidates must show a record or potential for sustained scholarly achievement.
