Law Enforcement Officer

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is seeking a professional Law Enforcement Officer to protect employees, visitors, and assets. This position blends traditional policing with specialized security duties in a financial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate metal detectors, wands, x‑ray machines and screen visitors, personal items, and packages for prohibited items.
• Authorize and log visitor access, monitor surveillance equipment, and inspect vehicles entering secure areas.
• Patrol the building, report unusual situations, and respond to alarms until cleared.
• Maintain and program access‑control systems, video surveillance, alarm systems, and Automated External Defibrillators.
• Escort VIPs, provide special assignments, and support Bank management as needed.
• Enforce federal and state law, make apprehensions, and participate in court or administrative processes.
• Monitor security systems for threats and respond to emergency and non‑emergency calls.

• Professional, courteous demeanor with high integrity.
• Strong judgment in life‑safety situations, including weapons and explosive detection.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with employees and the public.
• Physical fitness to perform patrols and respond to emergencies.

Required skills

• Operation of metal detectors, metal‑detection wands, and x‑ray screening equipment.
• Proficiency with video surveillance and access‑control systems.
• Knowledge of alarm system management.
• Use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
• Basic computer skills for data entry and system programming.
