Lathe Machinist I – 2nd Shift

About the role

Moog is seeking a Lathe Machinist I for the 2nd shift to join its Military Aircraft Group in Buffalo, NY. You will produce high‑precision components for advanced aerospace programs such as the F‑35, MQ‑25, and FLRAA, working in a performance‑driven environment where quality and reliability are paramount.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes with milling capabilities to meet tight tolerances and complex geometries.
• Inspect finished parts, adjust gauging equipment, and identify non‑conforming items.
• Interpret and follow detailed blueprints, GD&T specifications, and work instructions.
• Maintain accurate production records and report any unusual conditions.
• Participate in the company’s FAA Drug & Alcohol Program as required for safety‑sensitive work.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to understand written and computer work instructions in English.
• At least 1 year of general machining experience or completion of a formal CNC/machining certification program.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
• Willingness to follow escalation procedures for machining issues.

Required skills

• CNC lathe operation with milling functions.
• Use of precision measuring tools such as micrometers and dial bore gauges.
• Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
• Inspection and quality‑control techniques.
