Landfill Engineer

About the role

The Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) is seeking a Landfill Engineer to join its Maumee, OH office. This position focuses on landfill gas management and solid waste permitting, offering a niche specialty that most civil engineers never experience.

Key responsibilities

• Support solid waste management design and permitting, directly influencing community waste handling and environmental compliance.
• Contribute to solid waste construction oversight as projects move into the field.
• Manage project assignments primarily across Ohio, with occasional out‑of‑state opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; landfill gas management experience is a plus.
• 2–5 years of experience in general site civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering.
• Familiarity with Ohio Air Pollution Rules is a strong plus.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred; entry‑level candidates are encouraged to apply.
• EIT certification with a goal toward PE licensure is a plus, not a requirement.
